Overall Purpose
To oversee the delivery of a dynamic and inspirational education programme that will provide young people with the understanding and skills required to adapt to life in the UK and prepare them for further or higher education, employment or training so they can rebuild their lives for a better future.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead on design, development and delivery of the education programme for young people studying at Baca to enable them to make progress in English, Maths and ICT by leading a learning culture within the team.
- Responsible for ensuring the education programme is delivered in a creative manner reflecting learning styles to enable students to make positive progressions to further/higher education, employment or training.
- Ensure the quality of education support delivered is excellent by working alongside the Service Director and ensuring that teaching meets individual student needs by advocating the best learning techniques and strategies.
- Ensure that the learning environment is safe and therapeutic.
- Proactive relationship management of Bacas sub-contracting partnerships with any relevant college and other colleges and education providers in order to ensure students are supported excellently, including care leavers.
- Lead on ensuring the education programme meets quality standards defined by Ofsted and partner colleges.
- Work collaboratively with local authority Virtual Schools to ensure students are making relevant progress with their learning and their wellbeing.
- Be an active member of the service delivery management team at Baca, leading by example in line with Bacas values to ensure cohesive and coordinated day to day operations to enable young people to achieve the following outcomes,
- Improved Physical Wellbeing,
- Improved Emotional Wellbeing,
- Increased engagement with Education, Employment and Training,
- Increased Social engagement and
- Increased Personal Safety.
- Working with the Volunteer and Mentor Coordinator to support the recruitment, training, induction of volunteers to support the delivery of education services.
- Support and supervise the education team ensuring their work meets the quality standards of our education programme. This will include covering lessons as and when required.
- Planning and administering the budget for education resources, stationery and materials, with the help of administrative support.
- Liaising with local colleges and other education providers to register students on to the required courses and provide on-going support to ensure they are achieving in their studies.
- Work collaboratively with therapists, the support team leader and support workers to ensure students are supported to attend, engage and attain their best.
- Oversee the maintenance of all records, resources and planning to ensure they are re-usable and enables effective lesson delivery.

Person Specification
Baca is looking for an Education Manager who can take the lead the development and delivery of our education programme for young people who are refugees aged 16 to 18. The successful applicant will have the best interests of the young people at the heart of their role. You will be willing to learn from the young people consistently and will ensure that safe relationships and a learning attitude will be at the core of Bacas service delivery and development. You will have the ability to ensure the education we provide to the young people is of the highest quality and goes beyond the statutory standards set. You will be passionate about our mission and able to interact well and empathise with the young people in our care. You will be able to ensure the best is always being done to support each individual.
You will be very organised, have key attention to detail, proactive and willing to face challenging situations with determination and kindness. You will have very good interpersonal skills and can develop positive external relationships and work well with the staff team. The role will require the successful candidate to complete an enhanced DBS check and is a frontline role.
